How It Works (6-Line Magic)

🎯 ONLY 6 LINES - AUTOMATIC BANK COLLECTION

const link = await stripe.accountLinks.create({
  account: accountId,
  type: 'account_onboarding',
  return_url: 'https://yampl.com/FreeTrial?onboarding_complete=true',
  refresh_url: 'https://yampl.com/TutorOnboarding?refresh=true'
});
return Response.json({ url: link.url });

1. Create Account: Backend creates Express Connect account with capabilities

2. Create Link: Generates Account Link (automatically collects bank info)

3. Return URL: Backend sends back the onboarding URL

4. Simple Redirect: Frontend: window.location.href = url

5. Stripe Handles: User adds bank account on Stripe's hosted page

6. Return: Stripe redirects to FreeTrial?onboarding_complete=true

Why This Can't Fail:

  • ✓ No Stripe.js script loading
  • ✓ No embedded components
  • ✓ No JavaScript initialization
  • ✓ Just a simple URL redirect
  • ✓ Stripe automatically determines what info to collect
  • ✓ No invalid parameters that can cause 500 errors
  • ✓ Battle-tested Account Links API

The Entire Flow:

Frontend calls backend → Backend creates 6-line Account Link → Returns URL → Frontend redirects with location.href = url → User enters bank on Stripe → Stripe redirects back to app → Done! 🎉

Testing Tips:

  • • Use "Reset Test" to clear your Stripe Connect account data
  • • This allows you to test the onboarding flow from scratch
  • • Each reset creates a fresh test without leaving old accounts
  • • Perfect for debugging and iterating on the flow
  • • Note: You must be logged in to use the reset feature
